Tyler to Jessica: [thoughtfully] “Hmmm it hasn’t rained in a while.”

Jessica to Tyler: [befuddled] “You mean since a couple days ago?!?”

*Explanatory note: We live in the Pacific Northwest and it rained 3 days ago.

If we go 2 weeks without rain, native PacNW Washingtonians start announcing we’re in a drought. I find this mildly perplexing which can be explained by the fact that much of my life has been spent in dry arid climes where there is a rainy season and it’s generally 4-8 weeks instead of 8 months. Don’t mistake me, I love the cool moisture here and what it does for my garden, skin, and the necessity for warm wooly knitted items, but it’s June and I’m ready for sun! My good friend Stephanie and PacNW native tells me that July 4 is usually when she can reliably count on sun; only 8 days left and counting. Stephanie, I’m relying on your prognostication and local knowledge.
