My Non-Knitting Side

When I’m not knitting…

I’m a life-long artist whose first instructor was my artist mother. I was lucky to have been raised in a home where the arts were encouraged by both parents (my father took my brother and I to LA museums regularly) and neitherĀ one objected when I pursued a bachelor of fine arts in college with an emphasis in communication arts. Currently, I’m employed at a publishing company where I am the art director for a magazine. In order to balance the exciting but strenuous aspects of that job, I sneak out of work to attend a weekly life-drawing night at the Blue Horse Gallery.

My goal for 2008 is to go on a figure drawing sampler of sorts; kinda like wine tasting, but with pencils. On my sights are two Vancouver figure drawing locals: Emily Carr on Granville Island and Basic Enquiry.

Also, when I’m not knitting, I could be walking my two very nonstandard border collies, Ceilidh and Sabine. Or, I might be running, playing the piano, harassing my very small but sweet kitties, Red Sonja and Skye (they liked to be harassed!), or curled up with a good magazine or book and a glass of wine.

Cheers!
